Program Overview

City of Miramar Windows, Roof, and Doors Program Summary 

The City of Miramar, through Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) funds, administers the Windows, Roof, and Doors Program to assist eligible homeowners with vital home improvements. This program aims to enhance safety, energy efficiency, and structural integrity while complying with Florida’s strict building codes. 

Program Overview 

  • Financial Assistance: A zero-percent interest, deferred-payment second loan of up to $50,000 per homeowner, subject to funding availability. 

  •  is available, secured against the property. 

  • Loan Forgiveness: The loan is fully forgiven after 10 years, provided the homeowner remains in residence. 

  • Administration: Managed by Community Revitalization Affiliates Inc. on behalf of the City of Miramar. 

Key Program Goals 

  1. Enhance Home Safety: Protect residents from severe weather and potential intrusions. 

  2. Increase Energy Efficiency: Reduce energy costs through better insulation and structural improvements. 

  3. Ensure Compliance: Adhere to Florida’s rigorous building codes for durability and resilience. 

  4. Preserve Property Value: Maintain the long-term value of homes through essential upgrades. 

 

Eligible Repairs and Improvements 

1. Hurricane Impact Windows: 

  • Installation of impact-resistant windows to withstand hurricane-force winds and flying debris. 

  • Improves insulation, reduces energy inefficiency, and enhances home security. 

2. Roof Replacements: 

  • Replacement of damaged or deteriorated roofs, including structural components like sheathing and bracing. 

  • Addresses issues such as water damage, sagging, and mold risks. 

  • Enhances storm resilience and ensures structural integrity. 

3. Hurricane Impact Doors: 

  • Installation of impact-resistant doors to withstand extreme weather conditions and intrusions. 

  • Contributes to energy efficiency and storm safety.
